LASIK Pre-Op Exams, Bradford, ON
Our LASIK pre-op exams provide answers to our Bradford patients about eligibility and other concerns.
A LASIK consultation is the first step if you are considering LASIK surgery in the Bradford, Ontario area. Here at Dr. Miller & Dr. Tilis Family Optometry, our LASIK pre-op exams are designed to do two things – fully explain the procedure, including its benefits and risks, and determine if you are eligible to have this procedure done.
To be a good candidate for LASIK, you should have a refractive error that has exhibited stability for the past year. We’ll also check the thickness of your corneas as thin ones pose significant risks and will eliminate you as a candidate. Another component of LASIK pre-op exams is measuring your pupils and analyzing your tear duct function. If you have larger pupils, you run the risk of possible side effects, including experiencing halos or glare if you were to proceed. If you have impaired tear production and naturally dry eyes, you are at higher risk of complications. There may be other tests involved to be sure we are thorough about you being a good candidate. Our goal is to make sure your procedure is a success and that you won’t experience a problem during recovery. If you aren’t a candidate, we will recommend other vision correction options.
LASIK pre-op exams are also your chance to get all your questions answered so you know what to expect. You should let us know about any pre-existing medical conditions, even if you don’t think they are relative. We will also go over any changes you’ll need to make in your normal daily routine while you go through the recovery period. If you are ready to learn more about LASIK, call our office and make an appointment for your consultation.
