3 Reasons Why a Contact Lens Fitting is Important
Contact lenses can be a great alternative to glasses, but you can’t get a contact lens prescription without a contact lens fitting. There are 3 main reasons why a contact lens fitting is important if you are interested in wearing contacts.
1. A contact lens fitting involves tests for your eyes that are not included in a routine eye exam. In order to allow enough time for these tests, it is imperative that you schedule a contact lens fitting appointment.
2. During a contact lens fitting, the doctor will determine which type of contact lens is right for you. There are lenses that are for daytime wear and are good for 2 weeks, daily disposable lenses, and overnight wear lenses. Also, there are gas permeable lenses, soft lenses and toric lenses for people with astigmatism.
3. A contact lens fitting will also determine your cornea measurement. A cornea measurement determines the curvature of your eye and will allow for the proper contact size to be chosen.
Wearing the wrong type of contact lenses can cause discomfort and even damage to the eyes; come in to Dr. Miller & Dr. Tilis Family Optometry so we can find the right contacts for you.
